And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Someone once asked, “How many people are working in your office?” The reply was, “About half of them.” Unfortunately, sometimes that is so close to the truth. When we look at the workplace, in our minds, it’s like a battlefield because we go into it so negatively and we can’t wait to get out of it. It’s unfortunate that many of us think that way. Work should be another form of worship within our lives, and we are to make the very best of that opportunity. We are to do everything for the Lord Jesus Christ. We are to wash dishes for the glory of God; we are to go to work for the glory of God; we are to take the trash out for the glory of God; we are to flip hamburgers for the glory of God. Everything we do is to bring honor to God. You might be thinking, “Oh, you don’t understand the job that I have. You don’t understand the boss that I have.” But, do you not understand that behind that boss and behind that job is Jesus Christ. You might not want to do it for your boss, but you’ve got to do it because it’s God’s will that you be obedient to Him in your heart. So whatever you do, do it for the glory of God…as unto the Lord.
