Communicating in Love

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love,
I have become like a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Without love, our communication is ineffective. Paul says that if we have the ability to speak with eloquence, if we have the ability to speak with tremendous power, with the tongues of men and angels, but we have not love, then we are just making a lot of noise like the sound of brass or a clanging cymbal. If we have the gift of prophecy and understanding, but we have not love, we are nothing. And even if we give away our belongings to help feed the poor, but we have not love, we have gained nothing. God has given to us His love, and He has filled the inside of our hearts to overflowing. We just need to allow God’s love to flow in and through our lives. By doing so, we will become a channel, not a vessel or a container, but a channel that will allow God to direct our course. God has given to us from heaven the capacity to communicate effectively to people, to teenagers, to sinners by loving them, if we allow His love to flow through our lives. It is God, who can give us the love to do it. God, give us that love; grant us that strength because without your love, we are ineffective.
