Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil.
King David said, “God I’m going to stand with you. I’m going to stand against the enemy; I’m going to resist the enemy; I’m going to keep a watchful eye on the enemy; I’m going to stay on top of what happens so that bad things do not happen again.” 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” So for some of us, it might mean, not to turn on that computer. For some it may mean to avoid going down to that liquor store. We are going to make a stand and we are not going to weaken and do what we shouldn’t. Now our flesh is going to want to do it, “go…go ahead. It’s alright.” No. Our flesh is going to say, “pizza, pizza, pizza!” It’s going to say, “Krispy Krème donuts, Krispy Krème!” No. And we’re going to say the first time, “No!” And we’re going to say the second time, “No!” And for the third and the fourth time we will say, “No!” But then we weaken and end up eating that stupid thing! We have to stand firm for the rest of our lives. We’re going to stand until Jesus Christ returns. We are not going to bend. That has to be the attitude of our minds. We are focused; we’re tired of being ripped off; we’re tired of being deceived by Satan; we’re tired of listening to the enemy; we’re tired of lacking joy in our walk. We want to walk in victory. We’re going to stand right where God wants us to stand—in the power and authority of Jesus Christ.
