For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.
1 Peter 2:19-21
We are going to suffer. And where there is suffering, there is the power of the Holy Spirit descending upon our lives. God is going to work on our character. God is going to go deep within our lives. God reminds us that though we are poor…we are rich, though we have nothing…we possess all things, and though we are suffering…we are always rejoicing because of the relationship that we have in Christ Jesus. We know that God is alive, and we know that if we suffer now for many years that when we die and be with the Lord, we will never suffer again for eternity. If we need to suffer for the cause of Christ today, we are willing to do it, because He suffered for us. And so there is no need to be lonely because He will never leave us or forsake us. There’s no need to fret because God is with us and not against us. There’s no reason to walk away because all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
