Making the Right Choice
Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison,
that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days.
Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21). This was Job’s attitude. The Lord takes; the Lord blesses; blessed be the name of the Lord. Is that our attitude? Are we able to say, “Boy, it’s been a rotten day, but praise God!” Why would we say that? If we are obedient, we would say that. What if we were to try this when we are bummed—rejoice, because He is faithful. “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) So instead of moping or feeling depressed, we can rejoice. Through our obedience and our faithfulness to God, while we are being tested, others are watching; God is watching; Satan is watching; so we have a choice to make. Do we yield to God or do we yield to Satan? “At times, we may not feel like it, but out of obedience, we will trust you, God.” And God responds, “Yes, you’ve made the right choice.”
