And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Are we collecting garbage? That might seem like a silly question, but if we allow garbage into our minds, we may unknowingly have a collection. If we allow certain things to come in, for example, lyrics to songs that consists of profanity or racial slurs, foul language or sexual perversions that are contained in movies that we are watching, dirty or obscene jokes that we are hearing, watching television shows that are not edifying where adultery or fornication is the norm, then we are allowing all of that and more to go into our minds. We need to protect our minds because it has a pathway that leads directly to our soul. We read throughout the Bible that the Holy Spirit is to illuminate—to enlighten our minds with knowledge, to open our eyes, and open our ears, and heart to His truths. The only hope that we have to be victorious is through the Spirit of the Living God. Ask Him to help us guard our ears, our hearts, and our minds. Philippians 4:8 says, “ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Pray for the Spirit of God to bring light to the darkness and keep us focused on pure things that will bring Glory to God, keep our witness sincere, and impact this world for good.
