Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
We anticipate great things, but great things don’t always happen the way we expect them to happen. We expect wonderful things, but they don’t always happen fast enough. Our problem is that we have a tendency to give up, but we cannot quit. Sometimes our families may not understand the reasons why things happen; our friends might not always be there; and our boss might not believe in us, but God will never fail us and He is for us. “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6. When others are unwilling to stand with us, God is willing to stand right by our side. He has done it for us before and He’ll continue to do it forever. When Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, God was there. The Lord was there to protect Daniel when he was accused, sentenced and thrown to his death. When Nehemiah was rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, Tobiah and Sanballat tried to discourage him and tried to get him to quit. But the Lord stood with Nehemiah, and He will stand with us. It’s in the darkness that God wants us to make our stand. When God lights the match, when He turns on the switch, Christ is illuminated and we can see Him. Sometimes when we turn on the light in the daytime, it’s harder for us to see the contrast. But when things are devastating and darkness begins to surround us, God lights the match, and all of a sudden, we will see the glory of God. So stand fast today and anticipate great things in your life. “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong” 1 Corinthians 16:13.
